Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors to our Guest House which is also our family home. Our premises are unsuitable for those with a severe mobility disability. We have no ground floor guest bedrooms. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.

Pre-Arrival

  • Large print booking forms, access statement, directions 'how-to-find-us', and other information is available.
  • Bookings can be made by telephone, post, email, or on line.
  • Avenue Road has a moderate incline and Copper Beech House is located towards the bottom of the road on the right hand side if going downhill.
  • There are numerous trees flanking both sides of Avenue Road.
  • We are a non-smoking residence (a covered external area is available).
  • No pets are allowed.
  • Great Malvern Railway Station is approximately 300m away. Collection and drop off can be arranged.
  • Bus stops are approximately 200m away.
  • There are numerous local taxi services for which we can supply telephone numbers (numbers are given in the in room information packs).
  • Special dietary requirements can be catered for by prior arrangement.

  • Wireless Internet access is available throughout the property.
  • A child’s travel cot and high chair are available.
  • There is a hairdryer in each bedroom.
  • An umbrella and long-handled shoe-horn are available.
  • Guests are received between 2pm and 8pm on the day of arrival – outside these hours by arrangement.
  • Emergency contacts as detailed above.
  • We normally operate 365 days a year – the website gives availability.
  • Payment can be made by cash, debit, and most major credit cards.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

  • Car parking is available on our drive to the front of the property through stone pillars (useable width of approximately 2.5m) and on the road to the front of the house. The car park surface is block paving with a defined edge and both the car park and road are well lit.
  • It is possible to temporarily park adjacent to the entrance door to off load luggage.
  • Parking in the road at the front of house has a kerb of approximately 100mm to the tarmacadam pavement.
  • We will great you on arrival to help with luggage and show you around.
  • Assistance with guest’s luggage is available. (Heavy luggage should be left at ground floor level or split into manageable pieces. Heavy luggage is anything over 30kg and assistance for luggage over 23kg might not be immediately available on arrival or departure.)
  • Local shops including a bank and Post Office are available at Barnards Green, approximately 300m downhill walk. Great Malvern town centre is a 10-15 minute uphill walk or approximately 2 minutes by car or by frequent bus service. The Three Counties Showground is approximately 7 minutes by car.

Main Entrance and Reception

  • The front of the house has level access from the tarmacadam pavement.
  • The approach to the entrance is well lit as is the road.
  • The entrance is a single red door 1000mm wide.
  • The entrance door is always locked (illuminated digital keypad) and there is a brass push bell on the right hand side (set into the brick wall).
  • From the car park there are 2 steps (75mm then 180mm) up to the entrance door.
  • The entrance door opens into a small inner lobby and a second single door (950mm wide) opens into the main reception area.
  • The main reception area has 2 chairs (without arms) and a desk.
  • The inner lobby and reception area have stone tiled floors.
  • The ground floor guest area is level throughout except for the cloakroom which has 1 step down (approximately 100mm).

Guest Areas – Internal

  • The lounge and dining room have bare wooden floors, the reception and inner lobby have stone tiled floors, and the cloakroom is carpeted.
  • All guest bedrooms have en-suite facilities (bath and/or shower depending on room) and are located on the first floor.
  • There are 17 steps (180mm) up to the first floor from the ground floor with a strong hand rail on one side at approximately 700mm high for support.
  • From the landing there are 3 steps of 180mm down to rooms 5, 6, and 7.
  • The stairs and landing are carpeted.
  • There is no lift to the first floor.
  • Guest rooms are not adapted for wheelchair users.
  • With the exception of the cloakroom, the ground floor area for guests is level throughout.
  • Guest bedrooms are level throughout.
  • Corridors width range from 870mm to 940mm.
  • Width of internal doors range from 760mm to 800mm.
  • Guest rooms are signed with numbers.
  • All corridors and rooms are well lit. Additional lighting can be provided.
  • Due to the nature of the house, mobile ‘phone reception and WiFi access can be limited in some areas.

Dining Room

  • Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor.
  • The floor is bare wood.
  • All furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.
  • There is a range of tables and chairs to suit most requirements including chairs with and without arms. Under table space is typically 650mm.
  • There are fire exits at either end of the room.

Guest Lounge

  • There is a guest lounge on the ground floor.
  • The room is available to all residents.
  • It has a bare wooden floor, 5 upright chairs, desk and chair, freestanding bookcase, wall hung bookcase, large side table, low side table, nested table, and a central coffee table.

 

Guest Bedrooms (first floor)

Bedroom 1

  • Door widths (main and en-suite) 800mm and 755mm wide respectively.
  • Double sized bed 690mm height.
  • Bath with shower located within the room with the toilet screened from the room by a sliding door.
  • Co-ordinated bedding, blackout curtains and carpet.
  • A compact bedroom with small desk / dressing table, armless chair, and fitted wardrobe.
  • Wall mounted flat screen digital TV.
  • Tea/coffee making facilities.
  • Wonderful views up to the Malvern Hills from the large south facing windows.

  • LED wall and bedside lighting with additional ceiling and desk area lighting.
  • Fitted carpet to bedroom with cushion flooring to toilet (bath and toilet mats provided).

Laundry

  • We do not provide a laundry service however, subject to availability, local commercial laundry suppliers will take personal items (turnaround is at least 2 working days).

Garden

  • Guests are welcome to use the garden.
  • Access can be gained from the lounge through French doors (small step up and then 2 steps down). Alternative access without steps can be gained via the left hand side of the property (the gate is usually bolted so please ask for assistance).

Shopping

  • The nearest shops are located at Barnards Green approximately 300m away (downhill). A bank, Post Office, supermarkets, butchers, bakers, chemists, florist, gift shop, hardware store, toy shop, and charity shops are available.
  • Great Malvern shops are approximately a 10-15 minute walk away (uphill).
  • A retail park is approximately 10 minutes away by car or bus.
  • Worcester is approximately 11 minutes journey by train.
  • Birmingham is approximately 50 minutes journey by train.
